SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) One of the most congested traffic areas in Sioux Falls is about to get even worse, but all for a good cause.
Beginning Monday, April 10, 7 a.m, a section of 49th street near Louise Avenue, near the Empire Mall, will shut down, and stay closed until July. Workers will be rebuilding the intersection as part of the city's flagship road project for 2017. There will be extensive electrical work and new infrastructure put in under the road.
Two clearly marked detours will be available, but patience will still need to be a virtue.
The Louise Avenue overhaul, estimated at $9.4 million, is expected to be finished in November, and then, hopefully, the Empire Mall area will be a little less congested..
