SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls, we have a problem! The Meth epidemic is boiling over with lives ruined and crime rising.

There will be a community town hall meeting on the crisis Thursday, March 30, 7 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center at O'Gorman High School.

"Are they aware of the signs of Meth use? Do they know what resources are available? This is the opportunity to ask the questions." says Darcy Jensen at Prairie Prevention Services, who will moderate the discussion by a panel of experts.

All the statistics are startling but this one really stands out: 4.8 percent of South Dakota 9th graders have tried Meth compared to 2 percent of 9th graders nationally.

On the town hall panel will be Minnehaha County Sherriff Mike Milstead, DEA Agent Ron Deist, recovering Meth addict Tina Frank and Amy Marsh with Emergency Medical Services. There will also be resource booths with information on treatment, recovery, foster care, and other topics.
