WASHINGTON, DC (KELO-AM) South Dakota's Kristi Noem said she is deeply disappointed by Friday's failure of the House Republican plan to replace Obamacare.
"Today, we were given a choice: keep Obamacare or advance freedom's cause. I am deeply disappointed some chose to push liberty to the side, but our fight is not over." said Noem in a statement released by her Washington office.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, with President Trump's agreement, pulled the bill because there simply were not enough Republican votes to pass it.
"I will continue to fight alongside President Trump to give South Dakotans from all walks of life greater freedom and independence.” said Noem.
The South Dakota State Democatic Party was quick to pounce on Noem in the wake of the bill's collapse, to try to score some political points.
"It raises serious questions about Representative Noem's leadership - if she can't pass a priority bill like this that she helped write through the House with her party having a sizable majority, how can she meet the challenges she would face as governor?" said the party in a press release.
Noem is a declared Republican candidate to replace Dennis Daugaard in 2018.
