SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.COM) Booming Sioux Falls is featured in a very flattering article in the Wall Street Journal, headlined: As Many Midwest Cities Slump, Sioux Falls Soars.
It's great publicity says Lon Clemensen, the workforce expert at the Sioux Falls Development Foundation.
"It's a great story. The mayor is quoted in that. Any information about Midwestern cities, and Sioux Falls Soars, is great news," enthuses Clemensen on KELO Radio's It's Your Business Show with Bill Zortman.
The feature explores how Sioux Falls has been transformed into a "Financial and Health Care powerhouse in the middle of cornfields". A significant point of the article is how the city has become such a magnet for young workers.
Retired long time head of the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Evan Nolte, was interviewed for the article.
"..Very good opportunity for us, and will be, because they're talking about Sioux Falls being a strong economic city, as opposed to some other cities in the country that are not doing as well," Nolte tells the Zortman show.
City officials hope that such a positive story, in a publication read around the World, will help with Sioux Falls workforce development challenges - For example, having more jobs than there are people to fill them.
