Orange City's Tulip Festival entertains everybody

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Enjoy the gentle charms of an old Dutch world at the annual Orange City, Iowa, Tulip Festival today and tomorrow.

Tulip Court Queen Ava Grossman says tulips and replica windmills are just a part of this internationally recognized festival.

Residents wear authentic Dutch costumes, hold two daily parades, nightly musical theater, a carnival midway, Dutch delicacies and a multitude of delicious foods.

The festival began in 1936 as a small celebration of Orange City's Dutch Heritage in what is now known as the Tulip Festival.  The annual celebration is happens every third weekend in May.

From Sioux Falls take I-29 south to the Beresford exit, take South Dakota Highway 46, which turns into Iowa Highway Ten at Hawarden, east to Orange City.
