Harrisburg, SD (KELO AM) – Friday night was a special night for two Harrisburg students.
Junior high student Dylan Bourassa has been battling bone cancer, and has had a foot removed.
Senior Sami Slaughter is a standout athlete for Harrisburg, and recently picked up the Gatorade South Dakota Volleyball Player of the Year. As part of the recognition, she received a $1000 grant as part of the Pay it Forward program.
At the girls basketball game Friday night, she donated the money to Dylan’s family. Dylan says he will use the money for a prosthetic leg.
And to the cheering crowd, he announced he is cancer free.
