Thune to Democrats: Trump is president

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Senator John Thune yesterday railed against what he calls "Democrats' historic level of obstruction with respect to confirming President Trump's Cabinet nominees."

But the bulk of Thune's floor spech was to put Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, on a pedestal and warn Democrat's to "abandon their threats of obstruction."

Thune says while on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Gorsuch has written some 800 opinions since 2006.  Thune says only 14 opinions drew dissents from his colleagues.

South Dakota's senior Senator says that makes 98% of his opinions unanimous even on a circuit where 7 of the 12 active judges were appointed by Democratic Presidents and 5 by Republicans.

Thune says he wishes Democrats luck in portraying Judge Gorsuch as an extremist - "I think they're going to have an uphill climb."

Thune also reminded Democrats that while they might not like President Trump, "it's high time they get used to the fact that he is our president."
