PIERRE, SD (KELO-AM) A small plane was slowly circling above the State Legislature on Wednesday, towing a banner that said, in big red letters: Shame on You, Respect our vote.
The State Senate was debating legislation to repeal Initiated Measure 22, narrowly approved by the voters in November. Supporters of IM 22 have been pressuring State Lawmakers, through protests, advertisements, and even circling planes, to retain the law.
Republican leaders sat the ethics overhaul package should be repealed and replaced in such a way as to fulfill the wishes of the voters, but also fix constitutional problems.
