SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton plans on returning to work this morning after he fainted last night in the State Capitol in Saint Paul while wrapping up his State of the State address.
The 69-year-old Democrat fainted, hitting his forehead on the podium and was help to the floor by concerned staffers. He was helped to a back room and eventually walked out of the capitol under his own power.
Dayton's doctor paid him a house call last night and gave the Governor a routine check. Chief of Staff Jaime Tincher says Dayton's Chief of Staff Jaime Tincher says the Governor will proceed with his plans to reveal a budget proposal this morning. Dayton turns 70 on Thursday and has had previous health issues. During a campaign event last year Dayton fainted and blamed the episode on overheating and dehydration.
