Tea, SD (KELO-AM) - A family of six is homeless after an early morning fire raced through their home. Tea Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeff Stahlecker says his crews were called to a home on North Poplar Avenue around 1:30 Sunday morning.
As units arrived, they found a house with flames spreading to the kitchen and attached garage. Initial reports say investigators think the fireplace may have been involved with the cause, though no final determination has been made. The home will be inspected by the homeowners insurance company, but officials say it most likely is a total loss. Firefighters were at the residence for more than six hours according to the Chief.
No injuries to the Fuller family or responders were reported.
The Red Cross is helping the family with temporary lodging, and getting re-established. If you'd like to help the Fuller family, here's a link to a special fund set up to assist them...
