Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - The suspect in the city's first suspected homicide of the new year is being held on one million dollars cash bond.
Joshua Rayvon LeClaire is facing charges of murder and manslaughter in the incident which took place in the first hours of 2017 at an apartment near 8th and Cleveland. It's there where LeClaire is accused of stabbing Jamie Lee Wounded Arrow, then leaving her body. Wounded Arrow wasn't found until January 6th, when a neighbor reported a smell coming from her apartment and alerted police to execute a well-being check.
Additional charges against LeClaire include false impersonation and drug possession.
Security camera footage from the apartment helped lead police to LeClaire, he was seen entering the building, then leaving less than an hour later. Alcohol may have been a factor in the alleged murder.
Twenty-eight year old Wounded Arrow was a trans-gendered female, however at this time it's unclear if that had anything to do with her death. It is believed that LeClaire and Wounded Arrow did know each other in one way or another.
