SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission gave themselves a 600 dollar pay raise this year and included a thousand dollar bonus for the new Commission Chair Gerald Beninga.
County Auditor Bob Litz supported the increase.
Litz says the increase won't have a big impact on the budget and it would help to encourage others in the future to run for commission. He says it's an enormous amount of work for what commissioners are paid.
Commissioners will receive over $27,000 a year while Beninga gets $28,000 a year.
Beninga abstained from the vote.
