SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Passers of fake $20 bills went to the well one time too many yesterday when the clerk noticed the cash they were exchanging had the same serial numbers.
Officer Sam Clemens says one suspect said the machine didn't accept his twenty and the other suspect wanted $5's for his $20's.
Clemens says the clerk called police who arrived as the two suspects were still playing the machines.
Clemens says officers did not find any other phony money on the pair. He says they did have some legitimate cash.
Investigators haven't determined where the suspects got the money or if they printed it themselves. They haven't been able to tie this case to any others in Sioux Falls.
Facing the felony charges of possession of a forged instrument are 37-year-old Senthong Phiengsai and 29-year-old Brendan Kue both of Sioux Falls.
Clemens says the Secret Service is also working the investigation.
