SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) Boom! Boom! Boom! That's a quote from Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether announcing fresh evidence of the city's strong economy.

"We are going to break the city's construction record for the fourth straight year," Huether proclaimed on KELO Radio's Greg Belfrage Show Tuesday morning. December's not finished yet, but Huether radiated confidence that the final numbers would top last year's record of $676 million in construction value.

Another boom. Mayor Huether announced that the city's unemployment rate has dipped again down to an incrediably low 1.9 percent. He says what Sioux Falls needs is more workers to fill all the jobs.

Another boom, but this one's not as positive. Over the weekend, the Sioux Falls Police Department broke the record for the most annual calls for service. The department received its 100,000th call for service.

The economy isn't the only thing booming in ever-growing Sioux Falls.
