SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission today renewed its contract with Carroll Institute for addiction pre-treatment ordered by a court.
Carroll's Executive Director Gary Tuschen says the recidivism rate for patients in all their programs is about 54%.
Tuschen admitted that's not a good rate. However, he adds, that the individuals that Carroll treats find their path to recovery very arduously
But Tuschen says the pretreatment program has a 67% success rate of getting patients into full treatment services.
Carroll provides housing and low intensity, short term residential and pretreatment programs. The Institute can treat four patients at a time.
The county will pay Carroll Institute over $111,000 for services next year. The contract amount is the same as this year.
