Undated (KELO AM) - The National Weather Service says Sioux Falls has set a record low temperature for December 18, with a 27 below zero temperature. That breaks the previous record of 26 below zero set in 1983.
Record temperatures were also set at Huron with 31 below, and Sioux City at 20 below.
Mitchell tied a record at 24 below.
Wind chill temperatures reached -50 in the Aberdeen area Sunday morning.
Warmer temperatures are forecast, with temperatures in the 20’s 0n Monday, and low 30’s possible Tuesday.
