SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police say a 17-year-old Sioux Falls boy is accused of breaking into a neighbor's house yesterday morning and was arrested while sitting in his car at his own home.
Officer Sam Clemens says the victim noticed a car driving slowly around the block before he went to work.
The victim felt something was out of place and returned to his home later in the morning to find the side door to his garage open. His house was burglarized and items were missing including his wife's jewelry box.
The victim later recognized the suspect's car from earlier in the morning, parked a block away, and called police again.
Clemens says when officers approached the car they knocked on the passenger window but no one answered. One of the officer's recognized a jewelry box in the car that the victim had described earlier. The victim confirmed it was his wife's jewelry box.
The boy was hiding out of sight in the vehicle and he eventually came out.
The boy is charged with second degree burglary.
