SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead says deputies made an arrest last night in the death of a three-year-old child in Dell Rapids.
Milstead says detectives investigated the people they suspected had contact with the infant, or may have been involved, and that continued into the night when they made an arrest.
He credits another collaborative effort in the case.
He says the Sioux Falls police department was in Dell Rapids right beside the county detectives. The state Division of Criminal Investigation was also alongside and Minnehaha County State's Attorney Aaron McGowan was at the Law Enforcement Center yesterday as well. Milstead says law enforcement; federal, state and local, do not engage in turf battles.
Milstead says the suspect's name and charges will be released later this morning.
