SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Senator Mike Rounds says with an ally in the White House next year he plans to continue curbing what he claims is the overreach of federal agencies, particularly the Environmental Protection Agency.

Rounds says the regulatory process must reflect transparency and sound science and is based on a realistic economic foundation and meaningful public participation.

Rounds says make no mistake, he understands that rules and regulations have a place in society.  He says we all want clean air, clean water and safe chemicals, but the is a better way to achieve this without imposing burdensome regulations.

Rounds says a successful economy, one that creates jobs, depends on Congress taking back it's authority and reigning in the rulemaking process.

Presiden-elect Donald Trump confirms he'll nominate Oklahoma Attorney Scott Pruitt, a global warming skeptic, to head the EPA.  Pruitt is an outspoken critic of the agency saying it conducts an "activist agenda."  He also is a climate change opponent.
