SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Even though State Attorney General Marty Jackley says law enforcement isn't violating Marsy's Law by releasing crime addresses don't expect a return to business as usual.

Officer Sam Clemens says it's Jackley's preliminary opinion and Sioux Falls police will wait for a final report.

Clemens says there's nothing in state law that says law enforcement must supply a specific address. He says a beat provides a general location.  Clemens says police have actually been giving more information by releasinging a specific address.

For now, police will continue using the beat location for crime scenes.

Meanwhile...police say a northwest Sioux Falls business was the victim of a short-change artist to the tune of $1,300.

Sergeant Aaron Benson says the suspect was paying with cash and asked the clerk for change in different denominations.

Benson says the grifter will typically start with hundred dollar bills and ask for twenties.  They'll change their minds during the count and say they want fifties.  After the clerk is distracted and confused the suspect walks out with all the cash.

Benson advises clerks to take their time making change and pay attention to the count.
