SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Occasionally online sales are risky affairs when sellers or buyers are robbed during the exchange of money and goods.
Officer Sam Clemens says police created a safe exchange zone in the parking lot of the Law Enforcement Center when the lobby is closed nights and weekends.
Clemens says areas in the parking lot are available for the exchange of large items such as televisions or exercise equipment. Smaller items can be handled in the lot or inside the building's vestibule, the first doors just before entering the lobby.
"Traditionally, the Law Enforcement Center lobby has been available for people who wish to buy or sell goods on the Internet," says Police Chief matt Burns. He says the newly monitored areas will make it more convenient and safer for residents who want to exchange money and goods.
Clemens says the parking lot and lobby are monitored by surveillance cameras.
The Law Enforcement Center lobby is always available for online buys or child custody exchanges.
